#ELENAO

#Elenao  is an audio visual Installation. It represents the streets of Rio de Janeiro reacting to the first day the Fascist Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro took office in 2019. The images depict the mix of protest and street party (The Brazilian Carnival) that brought Rio de Janeiro together that day, against the new governments politics, elevating and celebrating togetherness, rebelling against their new reality. The audio is a collection of sounds, both from instagram videos and audio messages I recieved from friends during Carnaval that year, when I was back in NY. Rio de Janeiro sounded like hundreds and thousands of voices protesting and screaming their frustration with Bolsonaro.
